Presenting Once Sport at International Football Events in Denmark and Spain
January 7, 2026
In December, the Once Sport team attended two important football events in Europe, bringing together coaches, analysts, sporting directors, and performance professionals across football.
Our journey took us first to Denmark for the International Football Conference 2025, followed shortly by Madrid, where we joined the Be Magistral Football Summit. Although separate events, both offered valuable insights into modern football, education, and innovation, while creating space for meaningful professional exchange.
Both events reflected a shared goal: improving football through knowledge, collaboration, and structured development. From academy strategy and national federation frameworks to tactical leadership and performance analysis, December offered an opportunity to listen, learn, and connect with professionals working at the highest levels of the game.
Once Sport at the International Football Conference in Denmark
Our December in Denmark began at the International Football Conference 2025, held in the Michael Laudrup Lounge at Brøndby Stadium. Known for its strong technical programme and international perspective, the conference once again delivered a high-quality learning environment focused on long-term development, performance structures, and football strategy.
At the conference, we met professionals from different football cultures and competitive environments. Presentations and discussions spanned topics from talent development and recruitment to structural strategy and performance insights, making it a rich learning environment for everyone involved.
Learning from Elite Academies and Federations
One standout keynote came from Scott Curry , TID Project & Development Manager at Aston Villa Football Club , who spoke about departmental structure, long-term strategy, and where elite academies are heading in the years to come. His talk resonated particularly deeply with attendees interested in bridging football philosophy with practical implementation at the club level.
Alongside Scott, the conference featured voices such as Robin Pronk , Head of Academy at FC Utrecht , who shared perspectives on developing high-potential talent. Byron Bakker , Head of Academy at FC Groningen , who spoke to building sustainable regional systems. And Eric Boersma , Head of Expertise at the KNVB (Royal Netherlands Football Association) , whose session offered insights grounded in national development frameworks.

A notable speaker was also Shawn Bishop , Head of Methodology & Coaching at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise , whom we have known for years. Finally meeting him in person allowed us to reflect on our shared journey, exchange fresh ideas, and explore how analytical tools can better support coaching frameworks across diverse environments.
Several other experts also contributed to the event’s vibrant exchange of ideas. Gareth Jennings , Group Sporting Director at Harburg Group, brought strategic leadership perspectives. Morten Corlin , U17 Men’s National Coach for the Danish FA, gave an inside look at youth preparation in a national team setting. Finally, Tomas Pereira , Football Analysis Specialist at the Swedish FA, offered tactical and performance insights that complemented the broader technical programme.
The atmosphere at the event was truly amazing. Coaches and analysts sharing experiences across club pathways, youth integration, and long-term performance projects. Conversations continued well beyond presentations, in hallways and lunch breaks, where the human side of coaching and analysis sparked genuine exchanges.
For Once Sport, being part of the International Football Conference was both enlightening and energising. Seeing so many people from established and rising clubs discussing reminded us just how valuable shared expertise is for football’s future.

Once Sport at the Be Magistral Football Summit in Madrid
Shortly after Denmark, we travelled to Madrid for the Be Magistral Football Summit, organised by our partners Be Magistral. This event brought elite speakers together to discuss tactics, leadership, and the future of the game.
For Once Sport, it was not just an honour to attend, but also a chance to finally meet colleagues such as Mariano Mayoral from the Be Magistral team in person, exchange ideas, and discuss how technology and education intersect in the modern game.
One of the event’s most inspiring sessions came from Montse Tomé , the first woman to coach the Spanish women’s senior national team, sharing her tactical vision and leadership experience that led Spain to victory in the 2023–24 UEFA Women’s Nations League and their first Olympic qualification.
Representatives from Como 1907 , Filippo Sassi and Massimiliano Gatto gave an inside look into performance optimisation and tactical preparation within a Serie A club setup, offering practical, real-world perspectives that resonated deeply with attendees.

We also enjoyed contributions from Julio Baptista , a former elite player turned coach, who reflected on the transition from playing to coaching with an emphasis on youth development, and Ibai Gómez , now coaching in Spain’s Segunda División, who shared fresh ideas grounded in modern coaching approaches. Miguel Ángel Portugal rounded out the lineup with global insights drawn from a long career across clubs and continents.
Presenting Once Sport products in Madrid
At the summit, we showed all Once Sport products: Once Sport Analyser, Once Sport Telestrator, Once Sport Coach Board, and Once Sport Autocam. Giving attendees hands-on experience with our tools and workflows. Coaches, analysts, and football professionals engaged enthusiastically with the demonstrations, offering feedback about real-world use cases in match analysis, training preparation, and scouting.
During our stay in Madrid, we also met with Diogo Runa , a Portuguese FIFA Football Agent from Prodigy Players, to discuss scouting in the modern game and the growing role of video analysis in player evaluation and communication between agents, clubs, and players. It was a thoughtful conversation that highlighted how technology facilitates understanding and collaboration across diverse roles in football.

Reflecting on Two Inspiring Football Events
Both events in Denmark and Spain reinforced an important truth: football continues to evolve through shared knowledge, collaboration, and innovation. From hearing elite speakers to reconnecting with long-term partners and meeting inspiring new professionals, these experiences reminded us of the value in bringing football knowledge and technology together.
We are grateful to the organisers, speakers, and every person who took the time to connect with us. Your passion and insight fuel our work to support football professionals with powerful, intuitive tools.
We look forward to future conversations, collaborations, and opportunities to continue growing together.
